According to a study published by The Journal of Cultural Economics, the market price of artworks signed by women is 18.4% lower than that of men.
To highlight the results of this research, a selection of the works exhibited in the exhibition “La Iberoamericana de Alcalá” appeared intervened by a visual patch that occupied 18.4% of its surface, exactly the percentage of the gap revealed by the publication.
In this way, the University hacks its own exhibition to denounce a gender gap in the art world.
