The Golden Age brought with it an expansion of vocabulary never before seen in the Spanish language.  During this period, authors such as Francisco de Quevedo, Lope de Vega, Calderón de la Barca, or Tirso de Molina - former students of the University - made it possible, thanks to their writings, for us to enjoy a more abundant lexicon today. Creators of masterpieces of universal literature and creators of something more; of words that did not yet exist in our language.

Francisco Martínez Morán, an acclaimed poet and also a former student, has written a poem using only words incorporated into Spanish by the alumni of UAH who were, in their day, the greatest literary figures of the Golden Age, thus showing the great importance of the institution in the evolution of the language.
